Bike Gate Entrance
Due to the wet weather we are continuing to experience the ground at our Bike Gate entrance has become extremely slippery and muddy. We have long term plans for upgrading the front of our school, but as an interim measure we are looking to put some paving stones here. If you are able to help in this area (i.e. may have a couple of paving stones to donate) please contact the office.
Parent Occupation/Skills Database
We are looking to update our database of parent/caregiver occupations and/or skills.
One of the things we are exploring with our new website is to put up a list of local trades and services that are available in our local community and who could be of support to our school.
Please pass your details to the office, either by email, phone or in person.
School Donation
Great News! Through careful allocation of funding and budgeting the Board of Trustees has been able to retain the suggested school donation for 2010 at $80 per child per year ☺.
The range of payment options are as follows:
- Cash
- Cheque
- EFTPOS
- Automatic Payment (forms available from the office)
Manual payments can be made weekly ($2 x 40 weeks term time), fortnightly ($4 x 20 payments term time), monthly ($8 x 10 payments term time), term by term ($20), or one payment per annum. If you elect to pay by automatic payment the annual donation will be spread over the full 12 months ($6.67 per month).
The board expects your full support on this. Please contact our admin staff or the principal if you wish to discuss an alternative plan.
School Costs 2010
The Activity Fee is a compulsory payment and has been set at $40 per child for 2010. We are entrusted to deliver the New Zealand curriculum in order for our children to become the best people they can be. As you are aware learning does not just happen in the classroom. The New Zealand curriculum expects us to enrich children’s learning by visiting places such as museums and other places of interest as well as catering for visiting speakers and performers. The Activity Fee has been set to cover the cost of activities that support curriculum learning . The Ministry of Education does not cover the cost of these activities therefore we must pass on this charge to our parents. We are mindful of home budgets and as such we work hard to secure the best transport deals and to keep these costs to a minimum. Our expectation is that all children take part in all learning activities set by the school.
Other compulsory payments during 2010 will be:
Aranui Technology Fee (Yr 7 & 8 children only) $40
School Camp (Yr 7/8 children only) $150
School Camp (Yr 5/6 children only) $130
Swimming programme (full school) $40
Statements have been mailed home.
